Specialty Programs Offered at ETC Physical Therapy Include:
|
Orthopedics and Spine Rehabilitation
In order to properly treat orthopedic and spine conditions, attention must be paid to details. Because of this, our visits are always one-on-one and patients normally see the same therapist every time they come in. A thorough evaluation is performed in order to develop a care plan. Our therapists are trained to reassess at every visit and modify the treatment accordingly.
Many techniques require time and individual attention. Because ETC allows for one-on-on care treatment is not dictated by time constraints.
Our therapists have extensive continuing education in evaluation and treatment techniques for orthopedic and spine conditions. Their continuing education allows us to have as our priority the highest quality of care possible.

Sports Medicine/Rehabilitation
Through performance-based rehabilitation, individualized programs, in-depth analysis and conditioning ETC Physical Therapy can help you fully maximize your sport potential.
Athletes come in a tremendous variety of shapes and sizes. The demands of their sports differ, as do the surfaces they play on. Some are aerobic, others anaerobic. Some play and run on land and others in water. Some sports are oriented mainly towards upper extremity use, while others require a focus on the lower extremities.
Our Vision and Goals
-
to provide the best sports-related physical therapy services in the Kansas City metropolitan area
-
to return athletes to competition as quickly as possible
-
to educate athletes about their injuries
-
to educate athletes regarding self-management
-
to educate athletes to take steps that may reduce the risk of re-injury
-
to simultaneously improve sport performance
Our knowledge and experience allow us to understand the interface of the athlete with the sport. Treatment and performance goals are developed collaboratively. They are then realized through:
-
an individualized, sports-specific rehabilitation program designed by a licensed physical therapist possessing advanced sports' rehabilitation knowledge, skills and abilities
-
one-on-one, comprehensive evaluation designed to determine performance deficits and goals.
-
traditional physical therapy modalities (e.g. heat, ultrasound, electrical stimulation, ice.)
- manual therapy (i.e. specialized techniques designed to modulate pain, improve mobility and enhance function)
- therapeutic exercise
- sports-specific movement retraining, such as sports balance training, jump training and shoulder stability training to develop efficient movement strategies
Common sports injuries we treat include:
|
Fibromyalgia
Fibromyalgia is a condition that greatly affects a person's quality of life. Symptoms may include, but are not limited to
Pain may be isolated to one area or widespread throughout the body. This is a difficult condition but can be treated successfully by a knowledgable and experienced therapist.
We have therapists at ETC with extensive experience in treating fibromyalgia. They have taken numerous continuing education courses in manual therapy techniques that, when used in conjunction with exercise, have been successful in alleviating symptoms. A home program can often be used for maintenance and keeping this condition under control.
|
TMJ Dysfunction
Facial pain is fairly common, but is not always due to problems with the Temporal Mandibular Joint (TMJ). Our therapists do a thorough evaluation to determine if the pain is coming from the TMJ, or is due to other dysfunctions such as myofascial dysfunction or problems with the cervical spine. Joint mobilization of the TMJ can increase mobility. Exercises can improve motion, control and stabilization.
Manual therapy techniques may include myofascial release, craniosacral therapy counterstrain, soft tissue mobilization and stretching. Education in posture and relaxation techniques may also need to be addressed. ETC has therapists with extensive success in treating these problems and they would like to help you.
