Worker's Compensation and Work Conditioning
When you're injured on the job, you’re challenged by more than the pain you feel. You're probably worried about your ability to earn a living and your ability to function in your everyday life. At ETC, we have proven methods and special programs to help you get well and back to work as efficiently as possible. We also offer services that can improve the way you work and help prevent future injuries.
Therapeutic and functional exercises, as well as manual therapy techniques, are utilized toward the goal of reducing pain and rebuilding the flexibility and strength you need to perform your job. With our Work Conditioning program, your therapist will guide you through specific exercises designed to help you work effectively with less pain and a reduced chance of reinjury.
Ergonomic Site Assessments are also available. Our therapists can evaluate and recommend changes in work spaces to help reduce the likelihood of injury.

Functional Capacity Evaluations
The Functional Capacity Evaluation (FCE) is an extensive set of tests that assess many factors affecting a person's ability to perform activities of daily living and work. This includes assessment of strength, flexibility, endurance and body mechanics. Functional activities such as pushing, pulling, lifting, carrying, reaching and gripping will be part of the test. The evaluation is broken down into three basic parts:
-
Interview
-
Musculoskeletal Evaluation
-
Functional Evaluation
FCE's are performed by licensed physical therapists at the request of the physicians, insurance companies, or attorneys.
Appointments: The testing usually takes 3-4 hours. Please notify us as soon as possible if you will not be keeping an appointment. We cannot change your appointment without the approval of the individual who requested the evaluation.
Clothing: Wear comfortable, loose fitting clothing and comfortable shoes. You may be asked to change into shorts for the assessment and may want to bring your own.
Location: FCE's are scheduled at all clinics except for the Westport location.
